Jess marks her fifth year at Voice

Jess, your organisational angel and professional proofer, has recently marked her fifth year with Voice, and with this in mind, we decided everyone ought to know about her incredible journey with Voice so far. Grab a cuppa!
Jess, how did you end up getting into PR?
My interest in PR derived after doing a number of work experience placements whilst studying at university. Originally I thought I wanted to become a journalist, which led me to doing placements at publications including The Telegraph, TV Times and Now Magazine, before embarking on a PR internship at Random House Publishing. This then solidified my intent and interest in building a career in Public Relations.
What was your University experience like?
I studied at Goldsmiths, University of London, so I was in the heart of the capital throughout my student years which I loved! Goldsmiths is an extremely creative and individual university, so I really flourished in the environment. I studied English Literature which I absolutely adored (reading literature from Shakespeare to American crime fiction). It was hard work, but totally worth it!
How did the skills you gained at University shape you for a career in PR?
Studying at university meant that I had to be really disciplined – reading four books a week whilst writing my dissertation wasn’t easy, so I had to stay focused and organised - skills which I use every day in my role here at Voice.
What does your role here at Voice entail?
As Account Director I oversee the smooth running of all our client accounts. I support the team to ensure that they are all happy whilst providing creative ideas and strategic input for all our clients on a daily basis.
I also help our Managing Director, Nichola, with the management of the business, working closely with her to ensure that everything is in order.
