A Day in the Life of a Managing Director

Nichola, as Managing Director, is the heart and soul of Voice Communications having set up this values led agency back in 2006. With her contagious energy and nearly two decades’ worth of experience, Nichola has the ability to meet the different needs of each and every client.
Where do we start?
Nichola founded Voice Communications in 2006, and since then has built the business into an award winning agency with a strong client portfolio. Her expertise is essential to Voice’s development and has heavily contributed to its success over the last decade. Clients love Nichola’s positive outlook and the enthusiasm that she brings to Voice day in and day out.
How did you get into PR Nichola?
“During my A-Levels, I also completed a City & Guilds in Radio and Journalism and this generated my initial interest in the world of writing. Whilst studying I began to develop an interest in Public Relations, which led me on to studying for a degree in PR at University.
Whilst at University, I attended a Graduate Recruitment Fair in London. I handed out my CV to a company who was in attendance, and fortunately, I was shortlisted for an interview. I was offered a job either in their Bristol office or their London office. I chose to work at Harrison Cowley London and didn’t look back”.
So what is a typical day like for Nichola?
Nichola gets into the office around 7am with her adorable dog Alfie, and starts her busy day off with a refreshing peppermint tea.
As the Managing Director, she is normally occupied with emails and other vital tasks such as banking and formulating strategies for the team and clients. She then prepares her team for their days’ work ahead.
Attending client meetings is one of Nichola’s most important responsibilities. Either at the Voice office or at a client’s premises, these meetings are scheduled to plan and provide the great service we offer our clients.
Nichola also walks Alfie twice a day, which is a fantastic way to help clear her head and get some fresh air. The walks have really helped her come up with most of her creative ideas and inspiration.
Nichola, who is your ideal client?
“A client who heads up a values driven business. A client with authenticity, that has integrity, is straight talking and is passionate about their business.
So Nichola, why do you like PR?
“I love PR because of its variety, I learn so much about so many amazing companies and industries. I love meeting and communicating with people. The industry suits my personality as it is fast paced, creative, fun, rewarding, always evolving and it is so diverse. I’m very fond of the digital aspect of the business, seeing campaigns grow and being able to track their success. I love working with our clients and my team.
