Polish up the bugle horn… We have arrived at the majestic Layer Marney Tower! As we start to move into our eighth year in business, we thought it was only right to celebrate in style. So, after 4 great years on the farm, we have relocated to the slightly more stately Layer Marney Tower. One of the UK’S most dramatic buildings, the striking Tudor Palace was built around 1520 by Henry, First Lord Marney. Situated between Colchester and Maldon in Essex, we are surrounded by formal gardens, lush parkland and picturesque views over the River Blackwater. With Henry VIII and Elizabeth I as former guests, we are safe in the knowledge that we will be in great company! As we settle in, we remain in awe of our magnificent surroundings that are steeped in history. You only need to climb to the top of the Tower and you may see one of us admiring the architecture, gardens and landscape on our lunch-break! Our cheeky chair-dog Alfie is also finding his paws, having already made friends with the other animals residing at the tower. It truly is a privilege to work in such a stunning building. There is just one drawback to working here… impossible to believe, I know! The Tea Room in the old stable. It offers the most delicious light lunches, teas and cakes which are so scrumptious and virtually impossible to resist! We really must work on our willpower…we will put that on the to-do-list! We look forward to welcoming you to Layer Marney Tower soon. I’m sure by then we will have our excitement under control!
