Maldon based DC Electronics is recognised for the third year in a row at coveted motorsport awards

DC Electronics has once again proven that they are leading from the front after being recognised for the third year running at the MIA Awards 2013, held at the Autosport International Show at the NEC in Birmingham on Thursday 9 January. DC Electronics was named Small Business of the Year, adding to the company’s growing list of awards, which includes the MIA’s New Markets award (2012) and the Export Achievement award (2011).
Over the course of 2013, DC Electronics has continued to build on its success, both in the UK and overseas. A number of new developments within the business bolstered the company’s reputation as one of the world’s leading manufacturers of custom built electrical systems.
First presented in 1995, the MIA Awards were created to recognise excellence at all levels within the motorsport and high performance engineering industry. Open to all motorsport companies, the MIA Awards recognise outstanding achievement in the field of motorsport. Nominated by peers within the industry, the annual awards showcase companies which have earned the respect and support of industry members, thus making them particularly significant to recipients, both personally and professionally.
David Cunliffe, Managing Director of DC Electronics, commented: “We are absolutely delighted to have won the coveted Small Business of the Year award and be recognised by the MIA for the third year running. The award is recognition of the continued expansion of DC Electronics and our ongoing success and growth. The past 12 months has seen a number of new, significant business developments for the company and we will to continue to build on this as we move into 2014.”
Chris Aylett, CEO of the MIA said: “As a result of hard work, professionalism and dedication, DC Electronics have been an outstanding success over the few years since their foundation. They have overcome every difficulty faced by any typical SME following the financial meltdown of 2008/9 – and emerged stronger than ever. Actively putting in the extra graft and investment needed to grow their exports, particularly in the USA, the world’s largest marketplace for their expertise, they even had the courage and vision to open their own company in the heart of that country. They truly deserve their excellence to be recognised by winning the MIA Award for the SME Business of the Year – their third award for excellence in the past three years, in itself, a record performance!”
