Beautique Raises Funds for Much Needed PPE for Keyworkers

Newquay based salon, Beautique, is raising funds to purchase much needed PPC for keyworkers including doctors, nurses, pharmacists, optometrists, supermarket staff, postmen, carers and dentists across Cornwall. The Beautique team, headed up by Salon owner Emma Wood, is on a mission to raise at least £2,500 and is already well over halfway there thanks to generous donations from locals.

The fundraising page has been set up via Facebook and has since become a place where people can not only donate, but also share requests for their workplace that requires the PPE.

Every penny donated is used towards the much needed equipment and once purchased, is delivered by Beautique whilst adhering to social distancing. Since the campaign launched at the end of March, Beautique has also donated over 2,500 pairs of gloves, 1,600 masks, 400 aprons, 200 visors and 120 bottles of hand sanitiser. These numbers are growing rapidly on a daily basis as Beautique keeps up with the donations.

Emma says: “Every day, these incredible people are going out to work and risking their lives to keep us all safe. For me, I felt that the least I could do was help provide them with the basic personal protective equipment needed to carry out their job as safely as possible. Our salon is temporarily closed and I am so pleased that I can use this time to help others and give back to the community.”

“I have been overwhelmed with the generosity of the local community, and businesses, across Cornwall who have supported our fundraising. We are already well over halfway to our target and I’m confident that we’ll reach this amount in no time. However, we won’t stop there. For as long as people are generously donating, we will continue to purchase and deliver the PPE to help do our bit.”
