We recently submitted our B-Corp impact report which reviewed our journey and our impact, since becoming accredited in 2020, whilst highlighting the next steps we are taking to create positive change for the environment and communities around us.
The past two years have been incredibly challenging for businesses and individuals however we have always remained committed to using our voice for good. We wanted to take this time to share with you our achievements and our goals for the future as we continue on our B-Corp journey and look to become recertified next year.
SOME OF OUR ACHIEVEMENTS SO FAR
< We have continued to support the younger generation by employing both an Apprentice and a Kickstart
< 80% of our workforce identifies as female with 100% of the management team identifying as female
< We have provided pro bono support to six charities and not for profit organisations throughout 2020 - 2022
< We introduced and enhanced our wellbeing policy which also covers menopause, bereavement and pregnancy less
< We have committed to pay our staff National Living Wage
< We have trained two of our team to become Mental Health First Aiders
< Our MD Nichola has become a trained Wellness Coach
SOME OF OUR SUSTAINABILITY ACHIEVEMENTS SO FAR
< As a result of Covid and a reduction in our commutes to and from the office, we have saved in the region of 0.53 metric tonnes of CO2 emissions per month
< We have switched our website hosting over to a sustainable provider
< We have made a conscious effort to buy sustainable cleaning products (such as Method) and sustainable supplies (such as Bamboo toilet paper)
< We have switched to using B-Corp certified supplies in the office, e.g. B-Corp certified coffee
< We have reduced our email traffic through proofing on screen rather than printing and wasting paper
OUR GOALS
Over the next year, we have created a set of goals which we wish to achieve to continue being values-led and ethically aware.
Here are a few of them:
< We are committed to finding ways to improve our impact for our community and the environment
< Over the next year we will aim to reduce our CO2 emissions by 10%. We will do this by minimising our travel by car and holding meetings on Zoom where possible.
< Our community is incredibly important to us and we want to continue to have a positive impact on it by increasing our volunteering hours and keeping a formal record of these
< Investigate whether we can conduct our banking through a B-Corp or similar accredited financial institution
< We want to investigate pensions
Voice’s first two years of being B-Corp certified have been an unusual 24 months having dealt with unprecedented times throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.
However, as a result we feel that we have come out the other side stronger than ever, with a renewed focus on the positive impact that we have as a business.
We have learnt a lot about ourselves as individuals and as a collective and have worked hard to overcome many of the challenges we faced. We have made many achievements that we’re proud of as a small business but we are committed to creating an even bigger impact moving forward.
