Huttie, a well-established plumbing and electrical contractor in Cambridge, is delighted to announce that it has created a new Renewable Energy Division, headed up by Jim Harvey, to meet growing demand for renewable energy installation in Cambridgeshire and beyond. Huttie was established by Managing Director James Hutt in 2007 and is excited and optimistic about its ambitious growth plans. The renewable energy market in the UK is growing thanks to government financial incentives, rising demand for cleaner energy and developments in renewable energy technology.
Jim, the new Director of Renewable Energy, has a wealth of experience in the renewable energy industry and he qualified as a surveyor after undertaking an MA in Property Investment and Management. This solidified his interest in land use and renewable energy and fuelled his passion for how the UK can develop these resources.
Jim went on to become an Associate Director at WYG Global Consultancy, focusing on renewable energy for clients, energy reviews, sustainability and design consultation before becoming Head of Renewable Energy at Mark Group, the UK’s biggest renewable energy installer. This role focussed on business development through bids, tenders and PQQs, and also technical work through operational support, procurement and analysis of pricing structures and business.
Jim later became Head of Market Intelligence at the Department of Energy and Climate Change in London, advising the Government on the impact of the growing business of renewable energy, before creating his own consultancy business in Nottingham working in renewable energy development.
Improving energy efficiency, achieving cost savings and concerns over rising prices mean that renewable energy is becoming increasingly important to companies, who see an improved bottom line through energy efficiency and savings, and to domestic customers who want to take advantage of incentives and keep their homes comfortable and warm.
Solar PV, solar thermal, air source heat pumps and biomass will be the main technologies Huttie Renewable Energy will design, supply, install and commission.
James Hutt, Managing Director at Huttie, said “We are excited about the new opportunities to help our clients in renewable energy installation and design, and delighted to have appointed a new Director of Renewable Energy, Jim Harvey, who joins us with a wealth of experience in this new industry.”
Jim Harvey, Director of Renewable Energy, said “I am delighted to head up the new Renewable Energy Division as Director and look forward to strong growth and a positive future helping our clients, big and small. l have a passion for working with the best in renewable energy design, installation and service.”
