Voice Supports Local Family Over the Festive Period

As a company, we’re dedicated to supporting charities and worthy causes which are close to our heart. Usually at Christmas, instead of sending out cards, we create gifts for children in need across the globe via Operation Christmas Child – this is something we’ve supported for many years as a team. However, this year as a result of our ongoing support of a local family, we have chosen to donate to the Cross family from Great Totham.
Peter Cross, a well loved and respected builder and father of two, was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2015 with doctors giving him between 10 and 14 months to live. Peter has already had Chemo waffles put directly into his head and has undergone harsh Radio Therapy along with Chemo Therapy.
To ensure Peter can relax and be with his family in his final months, a fundraising page has been set up to allow for the build of a small extension onto the family home. The extension comprises of a living area, sleeping area and wet room for Peter when he is unable to climb up and down the stairs.
Partners of the Voicettes and local tradesmen, Ben Ure and Liam Wraight, have also shown their support to the family throughout this difficult time by giving a day’s worth of their time. Plus, our very own Mary Berry, Lucy, has also baked cakes for the tradesmen helping out at the weekend.
We have also rallied up support from local companies to help with the extension. Frank Howard Tools & Fixings contributed all of the drainage materials needed and Howden’s Joinery in Bishops Stortford donated a kitchen. Tec-supplies in Maldon has also helped out by providing a towel rail and toilet for the extension.
Each team member at Voice is passionate about giving back to the community. This year our resident cat lover Jess, has also been supporting a local cat’s shelter weekly, Poppy’s Place offering them extra support to care for the cats.
