Learn How to Create Beautiful Terrariums at Perrywood Garden Centre’s Workshops

Are you looking for a crafty way to green up your home? Tiptree based Perrywood Garden Centre will be running its popular terrarium workshops on Saturday 24 February and Sunday 25 February, giving everyone the chance to create their very own unique, self-contained eco-system. The workshops form part of the garden centre’s Green Up Your Home campaign, which encourages visitors to bring the outside in and style their interiors using a variety of houseplants.
The introduction of greenery into the home can bring many benefits, including purifying the air. As a result terrariums have become a popular home accessory, providing a creative take on living art. Terrariums were a fashionable feature throughout the swinging sixties and have grown in popularity in recent years due to a rise in vintage interior trends.
The workshops will be held in the houseplant area of Perrywood and will be headed up by expert Selina Hammond and Houseplant Team Leader, Zoe Willis. The workshop will begin with a discussion on how terrariums act as a miniature eco-system before focusing on how to care for the plants inside them. Attendees will then choose the foliage they would like to plant in their glass container, creating a unique addition for any home.
Zoe Willis, Houseplants Team Leader at Perrywood, comments: “Terrariums are an eye-catching way to capture living beauty and bring a touch of quirkiness to any room. They can add a pop of colour through the choice of stones, rocks and foliage making each one completely unique. Our workshops are a great way to get your ‘green finger fix’ this spring whilst getting creative with houseplants. We’re encouraging everyone to green up their home and terrariums are just one of the ways that you can achieve this.”
Tickets costs £30 per person and the terrarium is included in the price of the session. Attendees will have the choice of creating either a wet terrarium using ferns and foliage, or a dry terrarium using cacti and succulents.
Sessions will be held at 11am and 2pm on Saturday 24 February and Sunday 25 February.
